From the store to your first connection
Four steps, one meeting

- Meet in personYou need one other person who also has Patepang installed, in front of you.
- Scan the codeOne phone shows a code, the other scans it.
- Shake togetherYou shake the phones together: the two of you connect, and your account is born.

This site does not pick a store for you by your phone: choose the App Store for an iPhone, or Google Play for an Android phone. The public version of Patepang is only in those two stores, and this site never offers an APK file. New versions also come through the store alone: the app does not download updates from anywhere else.
What your phone needs
- An iPhone with iOS 16.4 or later.
- An Android phone with Android 10 or later, and Google Play.
- A camera, to scan the tempel code, and a motion sensor, for the shake.
- Internet, for a tempel and for sending and receiving. What is already on your phone can still be opened without internet.
There is no web version and no version for computers.
Age, country and language
Patepang is only for people aged 18 and over. When you create an account, you tick I am 18 or older, agree to the Terms and conditions and the Community guidelines, and state that you have read the Privacy policy. Your age itself is not asked, and your statement and agreement stay on your phone alone, never sent to the server.
Patepang’s first launch is in Indonesia only, and the app is in Indonesian.
Price
Patepang is free, with all its features. The subscription, Rp49.000 a month or Rp499.000 a year, only adds media space on the server and the size of the files you can send. New subscribers get a 14-day free trial. Subscriptions are bought, renewed and stopped through the App Store or Google Play.

Your first tempel
For your first tempel you need one other person who also has Patepang installed, in front of you. One phone shows a code, the other scans it, then you shake the phones together. At your first tempel, the two of you connect and your account is born. If there is no tempel within 30 days of creating the account, the account is deleted.
There is no people search, no adding friends and no invitation link: every connection is born from a tempel when you meet in person. Both phones need to be connected to the internet. The steps are in the First tempel guide.
Privacy
You do not need a phone number, an e-mail address or your real name. Messages, updates, moments and photos are encrypted on the phone before they are sent, so the server cannot read them. The server still knows some things, for example which account did a tempel with which account, and when. The details are in the Privacy policy.
